If we learn about Datawarehouse we will encounter a creature and this delicate creature is OLTP, ETL and OLAP ... who are they? I'll peel one by one sharp, as sharp ... sword ... check the definition at below:

Data Warehouse is a database that contains data that usually represents the business history of an organization. Historical data from the data warehouse is used in the analysis activities that support business decisions in several levels. Data Warehouse to talk about how the data is large and diverse stored in a single repository (data warehouse) and so arranged that facilitate the search. The data in the data warehouse is organized to support the analysis, instead of processing transactions in real time, such as online transaction processing systems (OLTP).

OLTP Online Transaction Processing or often known as OLTP is a process-oriented systems that process transactions directly through computers connected in a network. OLTP has some characteristics of the user can be creating, updating, retrieving for each data record, OLTP is optimal for updating the data. ETL ETL process is a cornerstone of a data warehouse. A true ETL design will extract the data from the source system, maintaining the quality of the data and apply the standard rules, and present data in a variety of forms, so it can be used in the decision making process (Kimball and Caserta 2004).

ETL process is a sequence of stages starting from the sourcing of data (src) and data-transform through the process of look-up bulk of data (lkpbld) and transform (XFM). ETL process ends with the load process to a wide range of output in accordance with the scheme, which consists of the load-up data (lodupd), load-insert the data (lodins), and bulk load of data (lodbld).
